MAD FOR PLAID
2023 Chamber Ball

The 2023 Chamber Ball, Mad For Plaid, saluted the impact of the 55th annual RBC Heritage Golf Tournament. This year’s PGA Tour event had an elevated status, bringing the biggest names of golf to the Lowcountry. The tournament has had a $102 million economic impact, and is a favorite of locals, golfers, Tour professionals, and visitors.

The Chamber Ball celebrated the legacy of the Heritage while also shining a spotlight on the Hilton Head Island and Bluffton community. Every year, the Chamber Ball brings together the biggest names in business and honors those in the community who go above and beyond to make a difference in the region.

With over 500 attendees and a 30-year legacy, the Chamber Ball has become a signature event that unifies the Hilton Head Island and Bluffton community unlike any other.

Invitation

On Hilton Head Island, as the weather begins to warm up, a sure sign of spring is the emergence of plaid as people prepare for the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.

The Sea Pines Resort’s founder, Charles Fraser, named the tournament the Heritage Classic to honor the long history of golf in South Carolina after finding a ship’s manifest from 1786 that included golf equipment from Scotland. Years later, tournament organizers found a print from 1790 showcasing Sir William Innes, captain of the Society of Golfers at Blackheath in Scotland, wearing a plaid jacket. They admired the look and introduced a tartan winner’s jacket. The iconic Heritage plaid was born!

Throughout the Chamber Ball collateral, one can see this plaid reimagined as an illustration. It works its way through the pieces, uniting each touchpoint.

MAD FOR PLAID Car

The ball’s presenting sponsor, AutoNation, donated the use of a 2023 Jaguar for promotional use. Once the car was wrapped in the RBC Heritage’s signature plaid by Sign D’Sign, it was featured in the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, visited member businesses, and posed with local icons such as the Mayor Alan Perry pictured below. The car helped garner attention for the upcoming celebration.
