mERGING MEMORIES

Miami alumni visit Oxford, Ohio every year to relive their past. Many of them are Miami Mergers, alumni who have married each other. After college, they have moved on, gotten careers, and started families. Sometimes this fast-paced lifestyle makes one forget past memories they have shared. It is nice to slow down, pause, and reflect on a time in their life when they were younger. Merging Memories helps alumni do just that!

The Merging Memories Tour takes place in Oxford, Ohio and is targeted towards Miami Mergers. To attract this specific audience, advertisements will be posted in alumni social media groups. These will direct them to the Upham arch, a well-known spot on Miami’s campus which holds the idea that if a couple kisses underneath it, they will get married. Here, they will find a booklet that leads them throughout the tour and tells them the prompt to do at each location. The self-guided tour is divided up into three sections: sightseeing, dining, and nightlife. In the sightseeing section, Miami Mergers will experience Miami traditions while also reflecting on their time at the school. In the dining portion, couples will have the opportunity to choose from various Oxford restaurants. Finally, in the nightlife section, couples will have the chance to party at CJs or relax and unwind at You’re Fired. After completing each, the couple will be asked to write about the old memories that reemerged, as well as, the new ones that they created.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Each illustration was created on the iPad application called Procreate. Photos were first taken around campus of these objects. They were then referenced when developing the designs. The limited color palette was used to keep the illustrations cohesive throughout the entire guidebook.

 

Advertisements

To encourage alumni to come back and visit Miami University, advertisements for Merging Memories will be placed within alumni social media groups. Once they are on campus, they can pick up a guidebook underneath the Upham arch. Posters will be placed at each participating business and landmark used in the self-guided tour. This will help direct couples to make sure they are heading towards the correct location.
